Quality check
Checked in China, before it ships
Once a container sails, a wrong order becomes a claim. Every consignment is counted, checked and photographed at our warehouse while the goods are still in the supplier’s country — and while you still have leverage.
Timing is the whole point
There are exactly two moments you have leverage
Before you pay, and before it loads. After that, a disagreement with a Chinese supplier is conducted across a border, in another language, about goods that are already yours and already in India.
So the inspection happens at our warehouse, before the consignment is handed to the carrier — normally while a balance payment is still outstanding. That is when a supplier fixes things.
Standard check — every consignment, included
- Carton count against the packing list, in full
- Piece count on a sample of cartons, scaled to order size
- Packing condition and suitability for the transit mode
- Visible damage, water marks, crushed cartons
- Comparison against your approved sample
- Photographs and video, sent on WhatsApp before loading
Detailed inspection — quoted separately
- Function testing on a sample of units, to your stated criteria
- Measurement and specification checks against a drawing or datasheet
- Full piece count on high-value consignments
- Labelling, barcode and marking verification
- Factory inspection during production, for larger orders
Tell us what “correct” means
The most useful thing you can send is a written specification — colour, dimensions, material, what must switch on, what must be printed on the box. A generic quality check finds generic problems. A specific one finds yours.
Common findings
What we actually catch
| Finding | Why it happens | What it would have cost |
|---|---|---|
| Short quantity | Supplier ships what they had, not what was ordered | Paid for stock you never receive |
| Substituted specification | A cheaper component swapped after the sample was approved | Returns and a damaged reputation with your own buyers |
| Packing unfit for sea transit | Packed for a domestic Chinese truck, not a 25-day voyage | Crushed cartons, damaged goods, no claim without evidence |
| Wrong colour or variant mix | Ratio changed to clear the supplier’s slow stock | Unsellable inventory in the wrong shade |
| Packing list does not match cartons | Careless documentation at the factory | Full customs examination and a penalty risk in India |
| Missing labelling or markings | Requirement not communicated to the factory | Held at clearance until relabelled |
Standard, not optional
We inspect because we clear it too
A packing list that does not match the cartons is our problem at ICD Sanathnagar, not just yours. Because we file the bill of entry and pay the duty, we have a direct interest in the consignment being exactly what the paperwork says it is.
Questions
About inspection
Is inspection charged separately?
A standard check — quantity, cartons, packing and visible condition, with photographs and video — is included on every consignment. A detailed functional inspection against a specification is quoted separately, because it takes real time.
What does the standard check actually cover?
Carton count against the packing list, piece count on a sampled basis, packing condition, visible damage, and a comparison against your approved sample. You receive photographs and video on WhatsApp before anything loads.
Can you test whether the product works?
For electrical and electronic goods we can power on and function-test a sample of units. Tell us at the order stage what “working” means for your product and we will check that specific thing rather than a generic once-over.
What happens if the goods are wrong?
They stay in China and we take it up with the supplier while your goods are still in their country and, usually, while a balance payment is still outstanding. That is the entire value of inspecting before loading — leverage disappears the moment the container sails.
Can you inspect at the factory rather than your warehouse?
Yes, for larger orders where a problem found at the warehouse would already be too late. Factory inspection is arranged on request and quoted per visit.
Do you check quantity on every carton?
Carton count is checked in full. Piece count is checked on a sample of cartons, scaled to order size — opening every carton of a 500-carton order would cost more than it saves. For high-value goods we can do a full count on request.
